Australian Standards — Verified

Every security screen and door we supply and install meets Australian Standard AS 5039. Compliance isn't something we self-certify — it's independently verified through auditing and testing carried out by NATA-accredited laboratories. When you see the AS 5039 label on a product we've installed, it means exactly what it says.

Current Training & Technical Knowledge

NSSA membership keeps our team connected to the latest developments in security technology, installation techniques, and regulatory updates. The security screen industry evolves — products improve, standards are revised, and installation methods advance. Our membership ensures we're always working from up-to-date knowledge, not outdated practice.

QBCC Licensed — A Legal Requirement in Queensland

Queensland law requires all security screen installers to hold a current licence issued by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Jack’s Glass & Security holds QBCC licence number 15180377, which you can verify at any time through the QBCC online licence register. If a business can't show you a QBCC number, they legally cannot be doing this work.

Our NSSA Membership — What It Means for You

The National Security Screen Association (NSSA) is the peak body representing the security screen industry across Australia. With more than 300 member businesses, the NSSA sets the benchmark for quality, safety, and professional conduct. Jack’s Glass & Security is a proud member — and that membership carries real obligations, not just a logo. Membership of the NSSA requires businesses to demonstrate ongoing commitment to compliance with Australian Standards, maintain appropriate licensing, and participate in the industry’s drive toward higher safety and quality outcomes. It’s a standard we don’t just meet — we build our whole operation around it.

WHY IT MATTERS

Not Every Screen Installer Is Equal

There's no shortage of businesses offering to fit security screens. The question worth asking is: who are they answerable to? NSSA membership isn't something a business can self-award. It requires a demonstrated, ongoing commitment to standards, licensing, and professional accountability. Here's what that means for you as a customer.

A Business That Stands Behind Its Work

Membership means accountability to an industry body with formal processes. We have every incentive to get the job right — and to fix it properly if something falls short.

Installation That Matches the Product

A compliant screen fitted incorrectly is not compliant. NSSA members are trained to install to manufacturer specifications — because the screen is only as effective as the way it's put in.

Genuine Commitment to Industry Excellence

We participate in the NSSA because we believe in raising standards across the industry — not just for our own customers, but for homeowners across Wide Bay.

PRODUCT COMPLIANCE

Why AS 5039 Compliance Is Non-Negotiable

Australian Standard AS 5039 sets the minimum performance requirements for security screen doors and window grilles — covering structural integrity, resistance to forced entry, and durability under Australia's climate conditions. A security screen without this certification may look the part but offer very little real protection. Here's what compliance actually delivers.

Independent Testing — Not Self-Certified

AS 5039-compliant products must pass physical testing by NATA-accredited laboratories. That means the screen has been stress-tested for impact, probe resistance, and structural integrity — results that can't be faked with a marketing claim.

A Label You Can and Should Look For

Every compliant screen carries an AS 5039 Manufacturing Compliance Label. Before accepting any security screen installation, ask to see it. If it isn't there, the product hasn't been verified — full stop.

Engineered for Queensland Conditions

From coastal salt air in Hervey Bay to Queensland's summer heat, compliant products are built to hold up in real-world Australian environments. Compliance isn't just about security — it's about durability over the long term.

Security That Doesn't Compromise on Appearance

Compliant doesn't mean industrial-looking. Our Prowler Proof screens are designed to meet stringent security standards while genuinely improving the appearance of your home — quality products that work as hard visually as they do structurally.

Important Note

Screens with pet doors, decorative screens, and fly screens are not security screens — even when marketed alongside them. Without an AS 5039 label, a product provides no meaningful barrier against forced entry. We only supply and install products that meet the standard, and we’ll always be upfront about the difference.
