Insect Screens & Fly Screen Doors in Hervey Bay

Want fresh air and the breeze through your home in Hervey Bay — without the mozzies, sandflies, midges or muddy paws?

Prowler Proof Insect fly screen doors and windows are purpose-built for exactly that, with welded corners that outlast cheap riveted flyscreens and three different gauze options to suit any home. Jack’s Glass & Security is your local authorised installer for the Fraser Coast.

KEEPING INSECTS OUT

Anyone who has lived through summer on the Fraser Coast knows the deal: throw the doors and windows open for the breeze, and the bugs come straight in with it. Sandflies, midges, mozzies — all part of life this close to the water. The right flyscreen makes the difference between a home that breathes and a home that bites.

Prowler Proof Insect fly screen doors and windows are designed to do one job exceptionally well: keep the small intruders out while letting fresh air and natural light through. Unlike a typical hardware-store flyscreen with riveted or screwed corners, Prowler Proof Insect screens are welded — the same welded-corner construction used on Prowler Proof ForceField security screens — so they look sharper, sit tighter and last longer.

As an authorised Prowler Proof dealer servicing Hervey Bay, Pialba, Urangan, Torquay, Scarness, Point Vernon, Eli Waters, Urraween and the wider Fraser Coast, Jack’s Glass & Security installs every Insect fly screen made-to-measure for your home, in the gauze and colour you choose.

10 Year Replacement Warranty

Insect screens are backed by Prowler Proof’s 10 Year Full Replacement Warranty on the frame — a warranty most flyscreen manufacturers wouldn’t dream of offering. If a product fails due to materials or workmanship within those ten years, the frame is fully replaced, not just repaired. The gauze is covered by the gauze manufacturers own warranty, as per the Prowler Proof warranty T&Cs.

For Hervey Bay homeowners, that promise matters. A flyscreen exposed to coastal salt air, subtropical sun and the everyday family wear-and-tear of doors being opened and closed a hundred times a week deserves more than a token guarantee. Prowler Proof Insect is built to last in this climate. To ensure your warranty is maintained, you’ll need to clean your screens in line with the care and maintenance requirements.

Jack’s Glass & Security backs every installation with our own workmanship guarantee on top of the Prowler Proof warranty — and we’re local, so if you ever need us, we’re a short drive away.

CHOOSE YOUR APPLICATIONS

Prowler Proof Insect fly screens are available across the most common door and window types for Hervey Bay homes.

Whether you’re fitting a new flyscreen door, replacing tired old windows screens across the whole house, or adding a port hole to an awning window, Insect has the configuration you need:

EXPLORE YOUR TYPES AND OPTIONS

Insect screens are made-to-measure for your home, with three gauze options so you can match the right mesh to the right job:

Fibreglass Gauze (standard)

High-quality charcoal fibreglass mesh with a 1.13 mm × 1.13 mm aperture — long-lasting, great visibility, and effective against mozzies and most household insects. This is the right choice for most Hervey Bay homes.

Micro Mesh insect gauze for sandflies and midges — Hervey Bay homes near the water

Micro Mesh
Gauze

Fibreglass mesh with a finer 0.94 mm × 0.94 mm aperture — fine enough to keep out even the smallest insects, including sandflies and midges. This is the go-to upgrade for homes near the water in Hervey Bay where biting midges are part of life.

Pet Proof vinyl-coated polyester gauze — for Hervey Bay homes with cats and dogs

Pet Proof
Gauze

Vinyl-coated polyester mesh in charcoal, with a 1.70 mm × 1.10 mm aperture — designed to stand up to dog and cat claws far better than a standard flyscreen. The right option for homes with pets that like to lean on the door.

On top of the gauze choice, you can add a colour-matched mid rail for larger door panels, a solid aluminium panel at any height (1.6 mm aluminium, colour matched to the frame), or a Prowler Proof porthole for awning and casement windows where you need hand access to the window pane behind the screen.

Choose your frame colour from 50 standard powder coats — with 250+ further options if your preferred colour isn’t in the standard range. Your Jack’s Glass & Security consultant will walk you through every option during your free in-home measure and quote in Hervey Bay.

PERFORMANCE

Insect screens are about doing one job — keeping bugs out while letting air through — exceptionally well, and lasting longer than a typical hardware-store flyscreen.

Here’s how Prowler Proof Insect delivers in the categories that matter for Hervey Bay homes:

150x150-icon-insect
Insect protection

Three gauze options for different needs: standard fibreglass (1.13 mm) for everyday insects, Micro Mesh (0.94 mm) for sandflies and midges, and Pet Proof (vinyl-coated polyester) for homes with cats and dogs.

PP_Icon_airflow_5cm_SRC
Airflow & ventilation

The whole point of a flyscreen is to keep windows and doors open. Prowler Proof Insect gauzes are chosen for excellent airflow and visibility — so your Hervey Bay home stays cool and breezy through summer without the bites.

welded-not-riveted
Long-term durability

Welded corners, heavy-duty aluminium frame and 7-stage powder coat — built to outlast a typical riveted flyscreen by years. The frame stays tight, the mesh stays taut, the look stays sharp.

150x150-icon-corrosion
Coastal corrosion resistance

The aluminium frame and 7-stage powder coat are built for coastal conditions. As with all aluminium products near the ocean, regular cleaning in line with the care and maintenance requirements helps maximise the life of the powder coat.

Family & pet friendly

Pet Proof gauze stands up to cats and dogs, mid-rails reinforce taller door panels for everyday family wear, and solid panel options protect the lower portion of doors in high-traffic homes.

Important note:

Insect screens are flyscreens, not security screens. They are not tested to AS 5039 and do not provide a forced-entry barrier. If security is also a priority, talk to your Jack’s Glass & Security consultant about pairing your Insect screens with ForceField, Protec or Diamond from the Prowler Proof security range — or, on upper-storey windows, Guardian fall prevention screens.

Frequently asked questions about insect screens in Hervey Bay

Yes — if you choose the Micro Mesh gauze upgrade. Standard fibreglass insect mesh has a 1.13 mm × 1.13 mm aperture, which is fine for mozzies but lets the smallest biting midges through. The Micro Mesh option uses a finer 0.94 mm × 0.94 mm aperture — small enough to stop sandflies and midges. For homes within a few hundred metres of the water in Hervey Bay, Micro Mesh is the gauze we recommend.

The biggest differences are the corners and the finish. A typical hardware-store flyscreen is held together at the corners by rivets or screws, which work loose over time. Prowler Proof Insect screens are welded — the same welded-corner construction used on the ForceField security range — so the corners stay tight for the life of the screen. The frame is also powder coated through an automated 7-stage process for a finish that holds up far better than the spray-painted aluminium on most off-the-shelf flyscreens.

Yes. Choose the Pet Proof gauze — a tough vinyl-coated polyester mesh with a 1.70 mm × 1.10 mm aperture that stands up to dog and cat claws far better than a fibreglass insect mesh. It’s the right option for homes where pets like to lean on the door or push against the screen.

No. Insect screens are not certified as a fall prevention barrier and should not be relied on as one. For upper-storey windows that need to meet the National Construction Code (NCC) fall prevention requirement, the correct product is Prowler Proof Guardian — a purpose-designed fall prevention window screen with a stainless steel mesh in a welded aluminium frame. Talk to your Jack’s Glass & Security consultant about the right combination for your home.

No. Insect screens are flyscreens, designed only to keep insects out. They are not tested to the Australian Standard for security screens (AS 5039) and they do not provide a forced-entry barrier. If security is a priority, the right products are Prowler Proof ForceField or Protec (rated SL200) or Diamond (rated SL100) — all certified security screens. We recommend pairing Insect screens with your choice from the security range for whole-of-home coverage.

Insect screens are backed by Prowler Proof’s 10 Year Full Replacement Warranty on the frame — one of the longest warranties available on a flyscreen in Australia. With regular cleaning in line with the care and maintenance requirements, the welded aluminium frame and 7-stage powder coat are built to last far longer than a typical hardware-store flyscreen, even in Hervey Bay’s coastal climate.
